Merry Christmas

Well, for many it’s that time of year again! That’s right, it’s Christmas! So we thought we’d give you a post of Christmas tracks to celebrate! Many of them came from After The Lights which which we remember seeing called Sweetbox Presents a Very Sweet Xmas. But there is also the take on the classic Carol Of The Bells from the most recent studio album, #Z21/#Zeitgeist21(take your pick, we’re not fussy)

It’s OUR Birthday!!

We’ll we’ve spent majority of the year so far bringing you celebrations for the various albums across the Sweetbox history. But today we’re celebrating another special birthday… OURS!

Now if you’ve been here before, that we’ve celebrated two ages…but this past year, we’ve decided…why have two ages? All we did was change a name. So we’ve only got one age now….and that age is 8!

When the site started back in 2006, it was just a few mish mash of pages with what few albums that we had to hand as well as what we could find elsewhere. At first we weren’t sure what it was that we wanted to set out to do (at that time, there was several sites up and running). Then it hit us (we still have the mark to prove it!);Why not use the site to reflect what had been, what was and what was still to come?

And you know what they say; from tiny acorns come mighty oaks. And that’s what happened here. As you’ll know from visiting the site, the tree has firmly grown with branches in albums, singles & promos to name but a few.

But a few of those branches have been inspired by YOU, the fans! Yes the Classical Influences & Where Are They Now in the Extras section came about from you guys enquiring both by email & by twitter! And now they’re available for all to see! So give yourselves a pat on the back on that respect!

We’re proud to have been here for nearly as half as long as Sweetbox has been going! We hope that no matter whether you are a fan past or present that this site & accompanying social media sites, have proved useful to you and will continue to do so.

It’s Blue Monday

So apparently today (20th January) is Blue Monday, which supposedly is supposed to be the most depressing day of the year. So if you’ve been here before, you know how our minds work here at Sweetbox Haven HQ….Let’s find music related to blue!

Classic Friday…What is it?

So if you follow us on Twitter (and if you’re not, why not?) then you might have noticed a new feature and we’ve called it Classic Friday.

Classic Friday?
Yes, Classic Friday. Every Friday we’ll post a link (most likely video) that features a classic piece that can be found in a Sweetbox track so you can hear the original piece

But why?
Well…this actually spun from us hearing a track by another British girl group who’s current single samples a classical piece. Our hearts sank when the first comment we saw was that it sampled another British group who used the same classical piece back in 2000.

While we’re glad that at least they recognised it being sampled, we think it’s high time that we gave recognition to those composers who’s own music has inspired others to produce something else!

What Are The Definative #Z21 a.k.a #Zeitgeist21 Lyrics?

Right, so here’s the thing Sweeties. Ever since the #Z21 a.k.a #Zeitgeist 21 lyrics were posted over on the official site for the lyric video contest, we’ve sort of questioned parts of it (sorry guys!) & we wonder if this is part of the reason why there appears to be no uptake on this challenge (you can tell us we’re wrong!).
